This station was opened in 1927 and was the original Homestead Seaboard Air Line Railroad Station, the southernmost surviving station in the USA, which contributed greatly to the economic development of Florida. The station was designed by Gustav Adam Maass Jr., a notable South Florida architect of the Harvey & Clarke architectural firm.
